Jaren Jackson Jr. secures a top-tier contract extension, teaming up with Grizzlies' star Morant for another 4 years

On July 1st Beijing time, the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and star big man Jaren Jackson Jr.have reached a 5-year, $240 million supermax contract extension, which includes a player option in the last year (2029-30 season). He will continue to play alongside the team's leading star Morant for another four years. Besides Jaren Jackson Jr.,the Grizzlies also signed Santi Aldamato a 3-year, $52.5 million deal today, and additionally inked a 2-year, $4.5 million contract with Cam Spencer.

The 25-year-old Jaren Jackson Jr.is currently one of the NBA’s elite power forwards. He won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023, has been selected twice to the All-Defensive First Team, and this season played 74 games averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 48.8%.

Jaren Jackson Jr.was the only player in the league last season to score over 1,500 points and record 100 blocks in a single campaign. Furthermore, he has achieved the feat of at least 100 three-pointers and 100 blocks in each of the past four seasons, setting the longest such streak in NBA history.

Jaren Jackson Jr.and Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley are the only two players last season to have defended at least 900 half-court isolations across guard, forward, and center positions, demonstrating their versatile defensive capabilities.
