On July 1st Beijing time, ESPN’s well-known journalist Wojnarowski announced that Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the NBA Timberwolves will move to the Hawks next season on a 4-year, $62 million (around 440 million RMB) contract, which includes player options and trade compensation. Additionally, after acquiring Alexander-Walker, the Hawks will send a 2027 second-round pick and cash to the Timberwolves.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker, cousin of Thunder star and 2023 MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ("SGA"), entered the NBA as a first-round pick in 2019, has played for the Pelicans and Jazz, and joined the Timberwolves in the 2022-23 season.
This season marked a career-best for Nickeil Alexander-Walker, as he played all 82 games for the second consecutive year, achieving personal bests in total points, rebounds, assists, and three-pointers made, averaging 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game with a shooting percentage of 43.8%, becoming a highly relied-upon bench player on his team.
Alexander-Walker also helped the Timberwolves reach the playoffs, defeating the Lakers in the first round and the Warriors in the second, before falling to the Thunder, led by his cousin SGA, in the Western Conference Finals. In the playoffs, he appeared in 15 games, averaging 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
