South Korea’s U-19 table tennis hopefuls swept the mixed doubles gold and silver at the 29th Asian Junior Championships. On June 30 local time, the pair Choi Ji-wook (Daekwang High School) and Yoo Yi-rin (Pohang International) defeated the North Korean duo Jeon Ju-pyung and Jo Hong-rin 3-1 (11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7) in the U-19 mixed doubles semifinals held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The South Korean duo Kim Ga-won (Korea Exchange) and Park Ga-hyun (Korean Air) also battled fiercely against the Indian pair Bata Charji Ankur and Kotte Chataneshachow, eventually winning 3-2 (11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 3-11, 11-3) to reach the final. Thus, the U-19 mixed doubles event was the first to crown champions at this tournament, with two South Korean pairs meeting in the final to compete for the medals.
