In the second round, Svitolina will face the winner between Clara Burel (ranked 92nd from France) and Aliaksandra Sasnovich (ranked 107th from Belarus).
Svitolina reached the Wimbledon singles semifinals in both 2019 and 2023, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals last year. She married Gaël Monfils (ranked 48th in ATP singles) from France in 2021 and returned to the tour in 2022 after giving birth to their daughter.
Before this year, Svitolina had reached the quarterfinals at both the Australian Open and the French Open Grand Slam tournaments. The Wimbledon Championships, which began that day, will run for two weeks until July 13.
