Trade completed: 2-for-1 deal! Nuggets send Michael Porter Jr. plus an unprotected first-round pick to the Nets in exchange for Johnson.

On July 1st Beijing time, insider Shams reported that the Nuggets traded Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Nets in return for Cameron Johnson.

Michael Porter Jr. posted averages of 18.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists with a 50.4% shooting accuracy and 39.5% from beyond the arc during last season's regular games, but his playoff output declined significantly due to a shoulder injury, averaging only 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists. Cameron Johnson appeared in 57 regular-season games last year, averaging 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Both players had been subjects of long-term trade rumors throughout the 2024-25 season and have now swapped teams.

Porter’s five-year, $179 million contract extension runs through the 2026-27 season. Johnson’s deal also extends to the 2026-27 season, but compared to Porter’s $38.3 million salary next season, Johnson’s cap hit is noticeably lower at $23 million. Johnson signed a four-year, $94.5 million contract with the Nets in 2023.
